CULTURE

In Gicumbi District, the cultural activities are limited. There are different socio-cultural activities that usually are done by cultural dancing troops and folk dancers. Every Sector at least has a cultural dancing troop that usually concentrate in traditional dances. These cultural groups usually entertain people especially in weddings, and when the district has received visitors from other places out of the district or government officials from the central government.

But there is still a problem of lack of training for these cultural group members so that they improve on there innovations and modernize there way of acting or dancing by including different styles and from different places and regions. This would attract more people to watch them including tourists.
The District of Gicumbi has 6 genocide memorial sites where the remains of about 2.000 people are buried. Most of these sites however are in disrepair and there is need for others to be constructed.
