District Overview

Gicumbi District is one of the five districts that constitute the Northern Province, with a total surface area of 828.9 square kilometers. It is situated in the eastern part of the province. The district shares its northern border with Burera District and the Republic of Uganda. To the east, it is bordered by Nyagatare District and Gatsibo District. In the south, it neighbors Gasabo District and a small section of Rwamagana District, particularly along the shores of Lake Muhazi. To the west, it is adjacent to Rulindo District.
